Apparently today, 3 January is the most depressing day of the year. I do not know who decides these things, but I have to disagree totally. Today, was the best powder day of the year and probably of the season so far and I wasn't even expecting it to be so good, which made it even better. I just made it out in time to meet Nick and Joey, who were already in the lift queue when I got to the cabine. We skied down to Le Praz, the powder on the piste was very light.
From there, we took the bubble up to Courchevel and made our way over to the Suisse chair.
We tried M, but decided the snow was wind blown and crusty, so came back down the side of Suisse, and the powder was light and deep. On our way back up the chair, the pisteurs were setting off slides just where we had skied.
On the way home, we skied the bowl beyond the grand couloir and underneath the dou des lanches chair. Lovely light powder, the perfect end to a great morning.
A real treat on the most depressing day of the year.
